Dear cluster users,

on May 17 and 18 we will offer our next course “MATLAB – Parallelization and Performance”. The course will take place over two consecutive evenings. It will be held in German.

If you would like to make your MATLAB code faster, if you are running into problems with insufficient memory or if you would simply like to learn all the ways you can use MATLAB on the cluster, then this course is for you.

The course will be held online via Zoom, regardless of how the coronavirus situation develops. All registered participants will receive the Zoom meeting information shortly before the course starts.

If you are interested in participating despite the course being in German, please refer to this page.

Best regards

Your HPC Team

Dear cluster users,

we have partnered with renowned C++ programming trainer Klaus Iglberger to bring you a 4-day online intermediate-level C++ course for free. The course will take place in the week from June 15 to 18 and will be held in English. It is the followup course to the beginners’ course Mr. Iglberger gave last year.

You can register and find more details on the course topics here: https://events.uni-paderborn.de/e/cppintermediate

Note that this course requires some C++ experience, either from the previous course or equivalent (you can find the previous course’s topics here).

Mr. Iglberger has many years of experience both in scientific programming and in giving courses like this one to academic and industry customers. We are lucky to get this chance as his schedule is normally booked years in advance.

We only have two conditions:

  1. Please give detailed feedback. We are using this course as a test for future courses run in cooperation with other universities in NRW. You will be asked to fill out a feedback form at the end of the course.
  2. Out of fairness to your colleagues please only register if you are certain that you will attend. If you have to cancel before the course, please tell us. This will give people on the waiting list a chance to attend.

The course will be held online via Zoom. Meeting details will be emailed to all participants shortly before the first day of the course.

Best regards
Your HPC Team

Dear Sir or Madam,
we would like to invite you to the Julia Workshop, 2nd-4th of March, organized by the competence network HPC.NRW and Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC²).
Julia is a new and exciting language for scientific computing, data analysis and many other purposes.
The Julia Workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediates. The only prerequisites are a strong interest to dive into Julia and basic knowledge in any programming language.
The event includes Hands-on and Q&A sessions. The course will take place online.

There is an optional session on the day before the course (March 1) at 2 PM, where you can get help with installing Julia on your computer.
Details about the topics covered and the registration can be found at:

https://events.uni-paderborn.de/e/julia2021

The number of seats is limited and the allocation of seats is done in a first-come-first-serve model.
The course is free of cost for members of German universities or publicly-funded research institutions in Germany

We would be happy if you could forward this announcement to potentially interested students or colleagues.

Best Wishes
The competence hetwork for high-performance computing in NRW: HPC.NRW
